We depart from “Chalkidiki” at noon the latest. “Virgo” will sail with destination the beautiful and safe “Planet” bay on the island of “Kyra Panagia”. The trip lasts approximately 7 hours. On our way to the bay we will have the chance to get familiar with the boat itself as well as its performance whilst sailing. We will anchor offshore, we will take a dip and swim in the sea, we will cook, since the island is uninhabitable, and we will enjoy the beautiful clear starry night sky!
Morning dip in the calm waters of “Planet” and departure in order to visit the monastery of “Panagia”, which is built on a hill and provides a majestic view of the Aegean Sea. After a 20-minute hike we will meet the one and only inhabitant of the island, the monk of the monastery.
We then return to the boat and sail to the beautiful island of “Skyros”. “Skyros” is the southernmost and largest island in the “Sporades” complex and is located in the centre of the Aegean Sea. It’s an amazing destination for a quiet vacation. The northern part of the island is covered by pine trees and a lot of green scenery in general, as it is custom for the islands of “Sporades”, whilst the southern part of the island resembles the islands of the “Cyclades”. The rare beauty of the green nature is completed by the beautiful beaches. The island has been inhabited since the period of Homer and has many archaeological areas and monuments, which indicate what a rich history of the area. We arrive at the port of Linaria, where we will dock for the next few days. During the evening we will visit the centre of Skyros in order to admire the lit castle and alleys of the centre.
Departure at 10 with destination the southern beaches of Skyros and the close by deserted islands. Sailing around the southern part of the island in order to find ourselves at the “Renes” golf with the homonymous beach for a dip and some relaxation! Next on the schedule is the deserted island of “Sarakino” and the beautiful beach “Sarakiniko”.
Late afternoon we return back to the port of “Linaria” with an intermediate stop at the beach of “Kalamitsa” to admire the sunset!
Optional morning walk at the centre of the island. The traditional houses and the picturesque corners that remind us of the “Cycladic” islands are majestic.
Departure at noon to sail towards the western side of the island. We will swim at multiple beaches, such as “Agios Petros”, a beautiful beach with teal waters, sand and pebbles. Even though it is not an organised beach, the pine trees provide a refreshing shade. The next stop is “Pefkos”, a sandy beach surrounded by green hills, trees and parasols. “Kyra Panagia” is our next large sandy beach with clear waters and shady trees. “Agalipa” includes two beaches at an idyllic golf with tall pine trees, clear blue waters and greenery that expands all the way up to the sea.
Once again, late afternoon we return to the port to taste the traditional Greek fish soup “Kakavia” at a local tavern.
Departure at 10. Destination the deserted island “Skantzoura”. The island belongs to the monastery of “Megisti Lavra” in “Agion Oros”, just like “Kyra Panagia”. The abandoned monastery is located on the highest point of the island. We stop there for swimming and fishing!
We continue our trip and we soon sail to the island of “Peristera”, one of the largest islets of the complex, with beautiful beaches and teal waters, where 25 metres deep one of the biggest shipwrecks of the classic period was excavated in 1990.
The commercial ship was transferring more than 4.000 amphorae, before it sank in the waters of “Sporades”. The total number of the amphorae, the conditions of preservation of the shipwreck and the beauty of the waters in the area make it a majestic landmark, which anyone can visit as it is the only underwater museum in Greece.
We stay overnight at “Steni Vala”, a leeward small port on the island of “Alonissos”, a special corner in northern Aegean. Small village, with just a few houses taverns and small shops. Here you can get a taxi or a bus to go to the centre of “Alonissos”, with traditional houses up on hills, stone-built churches, cobbled streets, majestic sunsets and a spectacular view over the island of “Skopelos”.
Departure at 10 with destination the beaches of “Alonissos”. “Rousoum Yalo”, “Votsi”, “Milia”, “Kokkinokastro” (one of the most breath-taking ones on the island), “Georgie Yalo”, “Lefto Yalo” and a visit to “Patitiri”, the port of the island. Late in the afternoon we enter the port of “Skopelos”, where we will stay overnight. We wander at the alleys of the centre, surrounded by the traditionally white houses, drunken by the distinct smells of the flowers.
